A talk was given to the international delegates at the Asian Pacific Vegetarian Conference in Bangkok on 28th November 2015.
Highlights
If we wish to promote the health benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle, first of all, we have to be the living samples. Our health must reflect our talk.
A whole foods plant-based vegetarian diet can provide all the macronutrients, micronutrients, and fiber necessary for optimum health. At the same time, refined vegetarian foods are detrimental to our health. They are devoid of prebiotics and overloaded with simple and added sugars, salt, and cheap oils, which damage the GI tract, our first line of defense. Refined vegetarian foods lead to a leaky gut resulting in a compromised immune system, which makes us unhealthy.
People must be informed of the differences between a healthy and unhealthy vegetarian lifestyle.
